Stanley M. Matter Born December 19, 1899 Died May 31, 1967

Stanley M. Matter, 67, 805 Fifth Ave., died Wednesday morning, May 31, at the Methodist Hospital, Rochester. Mr. Matter had been grounds keeper at Silver Crest Country Club.

Funeral services are to be Saturday, June 3, at 2 p.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church at Locust. Mr. Matter’s body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. to time of services. The Rev. Dennis Hefner will conduct the rites.

Burial is to be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Harold Richert, Roger Matter, Elmer Matter, Roger Danielson, Frankie Barth, and Arthur Barth are to serve as pallbearers.The Steine Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Music for the services is to be by Mrs. Arlin Fisher, soloist, and Janmarie Moen, organist. The floral committee members are Mrs. Donald McClintock and Mrs. Larry Giving.

Born Dec. 19, 1899, in Howard County, Mr. Matter was the son of George and Katherine Matter. He attended the Decorah Schools.

On Dec. 12, 1928, he and Leila Young were married at the home of her parents in Hesper Township. Mrs. Matter survives her husband’s death. The couple had no children.

After farming in Canoe Township for 28 years, Mr. Matter retired from the farm and was employed by Goetsch Home Interiors. In later years he was grounds keeper at Silver Crest Country Club. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Locust.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Clayton. Besides his wife, Mr. Matter is survived by two sisters, Viola Stoskopf, Mabel, and Vera Sparks, Tacoma Wash.
