Emma Rasmussen
Born June 12, 1888 Died January 7, 1919Mrs. Emil Rasmussen whose maiden name was Emma Victoria Young was born in Pleasant Township on the 12th day of June 1888. She was the daughter of Mr. Jacob Young and his first wife Katherine Pfister. Her mother died when Emma was 10 years old leaving her with a younger brother, Alfred, to mourn her loss. In 1913 she was married to her surviving husband Mr. Emil Rasmussen. The newly married couple took up their residence on a farm near Kendallville where they remained two years. They purchased the farm of K. Tolstad in 1915 and have since lived there in Pleasant Township. Here they lived a happy and contented life until death now suddenly removed the industrious housewife. Her husband was first taken sick and while she was taking care of him and all other work on the farm, she also succumbed and her sickness proved fatal.
Mrs Rasmussen was indeed a most estimable young woman and her friendships were as numerous as her acquaintances. She died January 7th and was laid to rest in the Locust cemetery on the 10th. Rev. K. Seehus officiating.
She leaves to mourn her death an age grandmother, father, stepmother, brother, five half sisters, one half brother and a number of uncles, aunts and cousins. Blessed be her memory.
