24 Feb 1952Carl E Borseth; 67 year old retired Springfield township farmer, died Tuesday, Feb 19 at the Decorah hospital after being in poor health for the past eight years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the Winneshiek funeral home and at 2 o'clock at the First Lutheran Church, Rev R.A. Ofstedal officiating. Burial will be in the Decorah Lutheran Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Arthur Syverson, Ingolf Hovey, Harry Lensch, Jr, Peter Hamre, Raydar Smith, and George Jevne. The floral committee includes Ruth Lensch, Myrtle White, Edith Kloback, and Esther Stegen.
Carl Borseth, was born April 24, 1884 at Calmar, the son of Eric and Mary Borseth, both deceased. He purchased the Borseth homestead farm in Springfield township in 1916 where he lived until his retirement in 1949. For the last three years, he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Harry Lensch, of Springfield township. He recieved his education in Winneshiek county rural schools.
On Feb. 13, 1918, he married Ida Erickson in Glenwood township with Rev. Scarvie officiating. They became the parents of seven children. The are Mrs. Harry (Sadie) Lensch, Decorah; Mrs. Melvin (Arla) Brown, Rockford, IA; Norman, Decorah; Cliford, Decorah; Merle, serving with the armed forces in Heidelberg, Germany; and Stanley, Decorah. One son, Donald, is deceased.
Surviving Mr. Borseth are six children, three grandchildren, three sisters, Carolina Haga, Ida Patterson, and Gertrude Stevens, all of Decorah; and four brothers, Emil of Cresco; Martin Borseth, Waukon; Clarence Borseth, Decorah; and Louis Borseth, Waukon.
One sister and one brother preceed her in death.
