Funeral services for Isabelle Catherine Ellingson, age 89, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 8 at Peace Lutheran in Ridgeway, Iowa with the Rev. Phillip Olson officiating. Burial was in the Lincoln Cemetery, in rural Ridgeway area, with arrangements by Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa. Casket bearers were Henry Aschim, Warren Harvey, Dale Hentrich, James Lomen, Mark Lomen, and Loren Rue.

Isabelle Catherine, daughter of George and Jessie (Mintey) Hill, was born April 25, 1908 in Howard County, Iowa. She attended rural schools in Howard County and graduated from Cresco High School. Isabelle received a Normal Training Certificate and taught country school in New Organ Township in Howard County. On June 5, 1929 she married Albert Ellingson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Isabelle worked for several years in the athletic department of Luther College where she was in charge of the women's locker room and equipment. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway and active in its women's organizations. She also served as a 4-H Leader, cooked at the 4-H food stand at the Winneshiek County Fair, and served on the Winneshiek 4-H Pine Bluff Council. Isabelle lived all her married life in Ridgeway. On November 6, 1991 she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa.

Isabelle Catherine Ellingson died Thursday, December 4, 1997 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert who died December 25, 1988.

Isabelle is survived by her daughter, Doris (Richard) Lomen of Waukon, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, 3 great-granddaughters, and 1 great-great grandson.
