KLISART, Harold Herbert 1917-2011

Harold Klisart, 93, Georgetown, Texas, formerly of Ossian, Iowa, died June 7, 2011, in Georgetown, Texas. Harold Herbert Klisart was born Aug. 13, 1917, in Ossian to Catherine and Herbert Klisart. He attended grade school in Ossian and graduated from Ossian High School in 1937 as president of his senior class.

On June 16, 1941, Harold married Margaret Elizabeth "Bette" Busch of Calmar. He owned a meat market in Ossian until 1952, when he and Bette moved to Wausau, Wis., for Harold to work for Wilson Meat Packing Company, with whom he was employed for 29 years as district manager. He eventually moved to Dallas, Texas, where he lived until his retirement in 1981. Bette died July 17, 1981. On Jan. 4, 1986, Harold married Lorena Cowsar. The couple moved to Sun City, Texas, in Georgetown in 1998. Lorena also preceded him in death.

Harold was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Corn Hill, Texas. Club champion many times, Harold loved golf and shot three holes-in-one. In his earlier years, he was a wonderful baseball player and tried out for the New York Giants. Last, but not least, Harold was a great caregiver.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Ann (Frank) Cannon of Georgetown, Texas; his granddaughter, Michelle (Roger) Thompson of Bentonville, Ark.; two great-grandchildren, Jack Thompson and Sam Thompson of Bentonville, Ark.; his brother, Robert Klisart of Ossian; three nieces, Nancy (Dale) Schwickerath of Newton, Shirley (Steve) Robinson of Hampton and Lee Bengfort of Denver, CO; and a nephew, Scott (Linda) Bengfort of Davenport.

In addition to his wives, Bette and Larena, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bernice Bengfort.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 13, in the chapel at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Corn Hill, Texas.

Inurnment will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery in Ossian, Iowa, at a later date.

Schmitz Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Ossian, Iowa, is assisting in arrangements with Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas.
