Ralph Houdek

Ralph T. Houdek, 74, father of Mrs. Donna Harnack of Postville, died May 26 at the Aase Haugen Home, Decorah.

Services were held Wednesday, May 29, 1991, 2 p.m. at Fjelstul Funeral Home, Decorah. Rev. Gary F. Krapfl officiated. Burial was in Phelps Cemetery. Military rites were held by Helof-Holm V.F.W. Post No 1977 and Bernatz-Symonds, American Legion Post No. 163.

Ralph T. Houdek, son of John and Mary (Secora) Houdek, was born March 25, 1917. He attended the parochial schools in the Ft. Atkinson area.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater.

Oct. 20, 1984 he married Lois Iverson at Rock Island, IL.

He worked for the Decorah Park Commission for many years retiring in 1982.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Lois, who died Oct. 20, 1984, one granddaughter, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Surviving are 3 daughters: Judy (Mrs. Charles) Boese, Decorah, Jane (Mrs. Terry) Henry, Cresco and Donna (Mrs. Clifford) Harnack, Postville; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and 3 brothers, Ed Houdek, Decorah, Clem Houdek, Cresco and Leo Houdek, Poinette, WI.

Pallbearers were Michael Aldredge, Thomas Harnack, David Boese, Jamie Henry, Richard Gunderson, Jason Henry.
