James A. Harvey

Funeral services were held at the Schutte Funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Friday for James A. Harvey, 81, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harold Clough, at Guttenberg on Tuesday, December 30.

Rev. Walter T. Martin, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church, was in charge of the rites. Burial was made in the Castalia cemetery.

James A. Harvey, son of David Erastis and Jane Harvey, passed away at 12:30 Tuesday, December 30, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harold Clough at Guttenberg.

He was born on a farm north of Castalia on January 23, 1872. He was united in marriage to Cora Allen on March 7, 1894. To this union eight children were born. Seven children survive the passing of their father. They are Mrs. Lepha Crabtree, Austin, Minnesota, Flossie, Mrs. Harold Clough, Guttenberg, Marie, Mrs. Earl Anderson, Castalia, Violet, Mrs. Otis Christofferson, Drakesville, Harry Harvey, Decorah, Fay Harvey, Wenatchee, Washington and Ray Harvey of Waterloo. One son, Wayne, preceded him in death.

Surviving besides his seven children are one brother, Tine of Ossian, and one adopted sister, Mrs. Pearl Andregg of Rice Lake, Wisconsin.

He was united in marriage to Addie Lent in 1924 and she preceded him in death in 1944. Most of his life was spent in the Castalia and Postville area. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
