Rites Held For Mrs. Harvey
Rilla Harvey, daughter of George and Jessie Barnhart, was born October 14, 1900 at Castalia and passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital, November 6, 1964. Mrs. Harvey was educated in the local schools and grew up in this community. She was a life long resident of this area.
On February 17, 1920, she was united in marriage to Floyd Harvey of Castalia. To this union was born one daughter, Betty, Mrs. Edwin Erickson of Clear Lake. The first part of their life was spent farming. Later they moved to Decorah where Mr. Harvey was employed by an ice cream company. They continued in this occupation for 18 years.
Mrs. Harvey was preceded in death by her husband only recently on October 23, 1964. Mrs. Harvey had been in ill health and since her husband's death had failed rapidly. She leaves to mourn her passing, one daughter, Betty, Mrs. Edwin Erickson of Clear Lake; four grandchildren, Barbara, Mrs. Hefty, of Iowa City, David, Marsha and Steven, all at home; two sisters, (Carrie), Mrs. W. F. Johnston, Fairfield, (Hazel), Mrs. C. K. West of Dubuque; one brother, Harold W. Barnhart of San Diego, California; three nephews and six nieces.
Services were Monday, November 9, at 1:30 from the Castalia E. U. B. Church with Rev. Curtis H. Webster officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Castalia.
