Funeral services for Dale Francis Nierling, age 36, of Decorah, Iowa were held Thursday, November 7 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. The Rev. Ed Lechtenberg conducted the 10:30 a.m. services. Burial was in the church cemetery. Sensor-French Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Lowell Vine, Robert Snell, Dave Panos, Chuck Sensor, Lee Hansmeier, and Ron Lysne.

Dale died of cancer at his home on November 4, 1985. He was born August 12, 1949 in Cresco, Iowa to Earl and Crystal (Van Horn) Nierling. He graduated from North Winneshiek School and attended Area I Vocational Technical Institute in Calmar, Iowa. He and the former Betty Balk were married January 31, 1970 in Ossian, Iowa. Nierling was a truck driver for David Kurk Trucking in Eitzen, Minnesota and for Olson Explosives. He was a member of St. Benedict's Church. He was active in the IOOF organization.

He is survived as do two children, Annette and Chad, both at home; 3 brothers, Dean Nierling of Burr Oak, Iowa, Randy Nierling of Lansing, Iowa, and Gary Nierling of Woodward, Iowa and 3 sisters, Darlene Kimber of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Joan Underbakke of Burr Oak, Iowa, and Marsha Kruse of Decorah, Iowa.

Decorah- Dale F. Nierling, 36, died Monday in his residence of cancer.

Surviving are his wife, Betty; a daughter, Annette, and a son, Chad, both at home; three brothers, Dean of Burr Oak, Randy of Lansing and Gary of Woodward; and three sisters, Darlene Kimber of Minneapolis, Minn., Joan Underbakke of Burr Oak and Marsha Kruse of Decorah.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Benedict's Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Sensor-French's, where there will be an Odd Fellows memorial service at 7 tonight and a parish Scripture service at 8 tonight.
