Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Nora C. Hanson died Thursday, December 24, 1987 at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, Iowa at the age of 98. Funeral services were held Monday, December 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Glenwood Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, Iowa with Pastor Landis J. Olson officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood East Cemetery with Fjelstul Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Gayle Decker, Donald Hanson, Ted and Tom Haas, Mike Snitker, and Tom Thomas. Honorary pallbearers were John Ryan and Richard Victor.
Nora was born July 28, 1889 in Glenwood Township to Ole and Augusta/Agusta (Blilie) Carlsborg. She attended the Rocksvold School in Glenwood Township and later a dressmaking school in Decorah, Iowa. On January 6, 1913 she married Henry Hanson in the Glenwood Church parsonage. Henry died in February 1959. She was a homemaker. Before her marriage she worked at Washington Prairie and Woldum's General Stores in Glenwood Township. She was a member of the Lutheran Church, Friendship Circle and the ALCW.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, and a great-grandson.
Surviving are 4 children, Oscar Hanson of Madison, South Dakota, Julian Hanson of Waukon, Iowa, Hazel Hanson of Decorah, Iowa and Mrs. Vincent (Ruth) Haas of Waukon, Iowa; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ole (Clara) Hammersness of Calmar, Iowa.
