Frederick Irving Thompson, age 52, of Dorchester, Iowa died Sunday, February 8, 1987 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Services were set for 11 a.m. Thursday, February 12, at Big Canoe Lutheran church, rural Decorah, Iowa with the Rev. Steve W. Jensen officiating. Burial was in the Iowa River Cemetery with the Roble Funeral Home of Spring Grove, Minnesota in charge of arrangements.

Frederick was born December 1, 1934 in Spring Grove, Minnesota to Irving and Mabel (Tweito) Thompson. He graduated from Spring Grove High School and attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He served in the Army from 1955-1957. On June 25, 1966 he married Emma Young at Big Canoe Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Big Canoe Church where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. He was past president of the church council and was a member of the Switzerland of Iowa Harmonizers.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant son.

Survivors include his wife, Emma; a son Maynard Thompson at home, a daughter Kathryn Thompson at home; his mother, Mabel Thompson; 2 brothers, Charles Thompson of Louisville, Kentucky and George Thompson of Indianapolis, Indiana and a sister, Naomi Towson of Abington, Maryland.
