Funeral services for Earle Corlett were held Saturday, July 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, Iowa. Rev. H.W. Wolfgram officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were George Wander, Milton Koenig, Art Svensen, Ray Schara, Wayne Dahms, and Eugene Schroeder. Honorary casket bearers were Harlan Stee, Henry Monroe, Jr., William Szabo, Leslie Mundt, Clifford Osmundson and Robert Szabo. Interment was in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Castalia, Iowa.

Earle John Corlett, son of Hale and Emma (Kaiser) Corlett, was born August 12, 1912 in Farmersburg Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He died July 1, 1986 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. He graduated from the Farmersburg High School in 1930, after which he was employed at the local grain elevator company.

On June 3, 1939 he was united in marriage with Irene Kishman at St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa. They had three children. They farmed for the next 28 years. In 1968 they moved to Castalia, Iowa. Earle served as a Trustee and Assessor for Bloomfield Township for many years. He also served on the FHA Board and various other boards. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia where he held various offices and taught Sunday School.

He was very active in the community, serving as a Boy Scout Leader for over 15 years. In 1968 he and his son, Wayne, became oil jobbers, selling Skelly Products until his retirement. He assumed the responsibility as manager and Secretary-Treasurer for the Bloomfield Township Cemeteries in 1969. In recent years he was active in the Area Agency on Aging and for the past two years was elected as an Older Iowa Legislator.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert Corlett.

Surviving are his wife, Irene; a daughter, Carmen Paddock of Tacoma, Washington, 2 sons, Wayne Corlett and his wife Beverly and Lowell Corlett and his wife Nancy, all of Castalia, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren; a brother Hale Corlett, Jr. of Farmersburg, Iowa, a sister, Mrs. Martin (Kathryn) Kacena of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a sister-in-law Dorothy Corlett of Farmersburg, Iowa.
