Arthur G. Holmes

Word has been received here of the death of Arthur G. Holm, who passed away on Wednesday, February 12, at Phoenix, Arizona. He was a former Waterloo resident where he moved from Frankville in 1907. He was born near Decorah, on September 16, 1885, and was the son of Martin and Hattie B. Holm. In Waterloo he was employed by the Galloway Company for about 12 years.

He married Miss Alberta Oviatt at York, Nebraska, on December 24, 1912. They moved to York, Nebraska in 1919, then to Sidney, Nebraska and later to Kimbal, Nebraska.

He retired in 1949 and moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Survivors are his wife, one sister, Mrs. G. E. Merril of Waterloo and one brother, Earl E. Holm of Fairfield, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Harry. Funeral services and burial were held in Phoenix, Arizona, on Saturday, February 15.

The Martin Holm family lived here for many years prior to 1911 and operated a general store where Emmett Schroeder now is located. The Holm Store building was burned to the ground in 1910.
