Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 18 at 2 p.m. for Thalmer B. Kirkeby, age 81, who died Monday, February 15, 1988 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah, Iowa. The Rev. Lynn Groe will officiate at the services to be held at St.John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa. Burial will be in the Decorah Lutheran Church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers will be Durwin Kallevang, Lloyd Roney, Orvin Hotvedt, Arnold Dahlen, Truman Martinson and Vernon Vine.
Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Graves, Milton Hove, Milo Headington, and Sherman Oyen.

Thalmer was born April 22, 1906 in Glenwood Township, Winneshiek County to Henry and Emma (Berg) Kirkeby. He attended rural schools in the Glenwood area and was baptized and confirmed at Pontopiddan. He was a member of St.John's Church and a retired farmer. He farmed in the Glenwood area before moving to Waukon in December of 1976. He had lived in the Eastern Star Home in Decorah, Iowa for the last four and a half years.

Surviving are a brother Kenniston Kirkeby and two sisters, Hazel and Lillian, all of Waukon, Iowa.
