HIAWATHA
Iola D. Groff, 82, a resident of Hiawatha Care Center, died there Tuesday, Feb., 23, 1999. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Phelps Cemetery, Decorah. The Rev. Kay Slocum will officiate. Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Turner Chapel East, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Chesmore of Ocala, Fla.; a son, Carlyce Einck of Bettendorf; two sisters, Gail Alm of Decorah and Delores Henning of Jefferson; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Iola was born May 28, 1916, in Decorah, the daughter of Daniel Horan and Tina Indvick Horan. She married Nathaniel James Groff on Jan. 11, 1953, in Decorah. She worked for Collinns Radio as a utility assembly operator. She was a member of First Lutheran Church.
A memorial fund has been established for First Lutheran Church.
