Bertha Ellickson Funeral Services Held Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Eli (Bertha) Ellickson, 73 of Decorah were held Monday, May 3 at the Decorah Lutheran Church with burial in the Union Prairie Cemetery.
Mrs. Ellickson died April 29 at the Retirement Center. She was born in Decorah and had lived here for the past 46 years. She taught rural schools and had also lived in Coleraine, Minn.
Pastor Alden H. Hovda conducted final rites. Pallbearers were James Ellickson, John Ellickson, David Ellickson, William Funke, Anthony Funke and Paul Funke. Mrs. Otto Ruen was organist and accompanied the congregation as they sang hymns.
The former Bertha S. Gilman, Mrs. Ellickson was born September 6, 1897 in Winneshiek County. Her parents were Tom and Lucy Gillman. She was educated in the rural schools and Decorah schools.
She was married January 26, 1921 to Eli Ellickson. He died September 8, 1967.
Mrs. Ellickson is survived by two sons, James Ellickson, Cedar Rapids, and Howard Ellickson of Cedar Rapids, and two daughters, Mrs. Ted (Norma) Arvan, Soap Lake, Wash. and Mrs. Louis (Virginia) Funke, Cedar Rapids, Ia.
Other survivors are 21 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Art Holm of Decorah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son and a daughter, who died in infancy, two brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Ellickson was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church, Woman's Relief Corps and the Rebekah Lodge.
