Monday, September 11, 1967Eli Ellickson Funeral Services Held Monday
Funeral services are being held Monday, Sept. 11, for Eli Ellickson, 69, who died at his home in Decorah Friday, Sept. 8.
Services, conducted by Rev. Alden Hovda, are at 2 p.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church. The body lies in state from 1 until 2 p.m.
Burial will be at Union Prairie Cemetery. Steine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers are Norman Wood, Vernon Ellickson, Allen Ellickson, Lee Ellickson, Robert Ellickson, and Richard Holm.
Organist is Mrs. Otto Ruen.
Born in Minnesota
Eli Ellickson was born April 9, 1898, to Ashley E. and Elisa Ellickson at Marietta, Minn.
He attended public schools in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Decorah.
He was married Jan. 26, 1921, to Bertha Gillman in Decorah. Six children were born to them, A son Gerald, and a daughter, Marie, died in infancy.
Four children survive. They are James Ellickson, Cedar Rapids, Howard Ellickson, Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Louis (Virginia) Funke, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Theodore (Norma) Arvan, Soap Lake, Wash.
He lived in Decorah the past 60 years and was on the Decorah police force for 10 years. He became a feed salesman and continued in that occupation until his death.
Church Member
He was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church, 100F and the Loren Singers.
Survivors besides his children, include 21 grandchildren, and three brothers, E.H. Ellickson, Decorah; George Ellickson, Decorah; and Harold Ellickson, Sioux City.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
