Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Barbara Hageman, 88, of Ossian, Iowa, died Saturday, March 25, 1989 at the Ossian Senior Hospice. She was a retired housekeeper for priests. Services were conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church by the Rev. Robert Hirsch. Pallbearers were Donald Hageman, Kenneth Hageman, Kenneth Lansing, LeRoy Ott, Norman Bohr, and Wilfred Bohr. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Barbara was born April 24, 1900 in Festina to John and Mary (Buchheit) Hageman. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Festina, Iowa. She received her education at St. Mary's Catholic School, Festina. Miss Hageman was a member of St. Francis Rosary, the Catholic Daughters and Society of St. Terese of the Little Flower. She started working as a priest's housekeeper in 1927, working in various parishes until 1971. Since July 11, 1972, she has been a resident of the Ossian Senior Hospice.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Fred, Nicholas, Joseph, and John Hageman; and two sisters, Julia Hageman at the age of 3 and Angela Imoehl.
Survivors include one brother, Philip Hageman,and sisters, Mrs. Tillie Bohr, Agnes Hageman, Mrs. Clem (Mary) Bohr, Mrs. Roman (Philomena) Ott, and Mrs. Wilfred (Victoria) Lansing, all of Ossian.
