Stella Riha, formerly of Fort Atkinson, Iowa died last Monday, March 20, 1989, in the Aase Haugen Home, Decorah, Iowa, following a lingering illness. She was 88 years old. Services were conducted Thursday, March 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Chekal Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson by the Rev. Msgr. Donald P. Heineman. Casketbearers were Ron Lensing, Dennis Schneberger, Charles Riha, David Wilder, Lyle Peterson, and Fred Borreson. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery.

She was born April 8, 1900 in Chickasaw County to Frank and Emma (Kovarik) Novotny. She attended rural schools. She married Martin Riha November 16, 1926 at Little Turkey, Iowa. They became the parents of four children. They farmed near Fort Atkinson. They moved to Fort Atkinson in January 1958.

She was a member of St.John's Nepomucene Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild, Catholic Workman, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, June 16, 1971 and a daughter, Martha at the age of five months.

Surviving is a son, Donald Riha of Fort Atkinson, Iowa; three daughters, Agnes Schmitt of West Union, Iowa, Anne Cook of Mabel, Minnesota, and Marcella Schneberger of Fort Atkinson, a sister, Louise Veverka of Phillips, Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
