Charles Edgar Hille Langland, 68, of Waukon, Iowa died Friday, November 24, 1989 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 28 at 11 a.m. at St.John's Lutheran Church, Waukon. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Grove, MN with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Arnold Onsager, Ralph Grotegut, Bernard King, Bernard Snitker, Truman Wurtzel, and Ed Lenth. Honorary pallbearers were Allen Goeke, Gary Bulman, Clarence Haberichter, Roland Folsom, and Bill Gebhardt.

Charles was born June 27, 1921 in Winneshiek County to Charley M. and Clara E. (Hille) Langland. He attended Winneshiek County rural elementary school and Spring Grove High School through the ninth grade. He had lived in Highlandville, Mabel, MN and moved to Waukon in 1956. On August 25, 1946 he married A. Lois Nesheim at Trinity Lutheran Church. He had worked for 33 years as a buttermaker, lab technician, and field representative for Wisconsin Dairies in Waukon and previously had a cream route near Highlandville.

He was a member of St.John's Church and a current member of the church council as a trustee, Switzerland of Iowa Harmonizers, and various dairy organizations. He had won many awards for buttermaking, including the state fair winner in Wisconsin and Iowa, and the 1989 winner of Distinguished Service Award given at the Allamakee County Dairy Days.

Surviving are his wife, three sons, David of Bridgeport, CN, Charles and Bruce, both of Decorah, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Connie) Witkowski of LaGrange Park, IL, Linda Langland of Iowa City, Iowa, and Joan Langland of High Point, NC; three grandchildren; four brothers, Maurice and Walter of Spring Grove, MN, Richard of Waukon, and Joseph of Amherst, MA, and two sisters, Lois Langland of Claremont, CA and Mrs. Alfred (Norma) Bothell of Menlo Park, CA

Preceding him in death were a sister, Corinne Hexom and a brother Harold Langland.
