Marie Lansing, 88, died Sunday afternoon, December 1, 1985, at the Ossian, Iowa Senior Hospice where she had been a resident since August of 1982.

She was born the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Groff) Lansing on December 3, 1896 at Ossian. As Helen Marie Lansing, she was baptized at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Ossian, the parish of which she was a life-long member. She received her education at DeSales School in Ossian and was a member of the St. Frances Rosary Society and a 59 year member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court 983.

In the 1920's and 1930's she was employed by the Ossian Bee newspaper, first as a bookkeeper and then as a linotype operator. From 1943 to 1973 she was employed by the Postville Herald newspaper. She was given the 50 year service award as a linotype operator in 1972 by the Iowa Press Association.

Survivors in this area are many cousins. Preceding her in death are her parents, and two sisters, Kathryn Limbeck, known to many as Kitsy and Sister Mary Ignatius O.S.B.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis DeSales, Ossian with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is to begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Schmitz Funeral Home in Ossian. There is to be a 3 p.m. C.D.A. rosary and an 8 p.m. scriptural service.

Pallbearers are Leo Lansing, Arthur Hemesath, Theodore Hemesath, William Schroeder, Leonard Schroeder, and Bernard Rose.
