Alvin Redwing, former Mabel businessman, died suddenly on Wednesday, November 8 in Mabel.
He was born February 21, 1908, in Newburg Township, Fillmore County, the son of Gustav and Lena (Brenna) Redwing.
He was a 1927 graduated of Mabel High School.
On May 1, 1932, he married Myrtle Ostern in rural Mabel by Pastor Borg-Breen of Garness Lutheran Church.
He worked for Hallet Construction Company for several years as a heavy equipment operator. He farmed in the Mabel area until 1940, when he became a partner with his brother, Lester, in the operation of the Redwing Brothers Garage for period of 35 years in Mabel.
He was a charter member of the Mabel Lions Club, a past member of the Mabel Business Association and the Sons of Norway Lodge in Spring Grove. He has served on the Mabel City Council as a trustee and clerk. He was a former member of the Mabel School Board where he served as clerk. He was a member of the Mabel First Lutheran Church having served as secretary of the church council and on the ushers committee.
Survivors are his wife; one son Warren of Jupiter, FL; two daughters, Mrs. Kermit (Audrey) Holman of Seattle, WA, Robert (Loreen) Youngquist of Denver, CO; 7 grandchildren and two brothers, Lester and Grant both of Mabel, and a sister Mrs. Edwin Peterson of Mabel.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 11 at the Mabel First Lutheran Church and the Rev. Phillip Ruud officiated.
The Mengis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
