Dean Rites

Roy Dean received word of the death of his brother, George, at his home in Orosi, California, Friday afternoon.

George E. Dean, son of Judson and Nancy Howard Dean, was born on a farm near Ossian, December 15, 1870. He attended the Ossian public school and Valder college in Decorah. He taught school for several years in Winneshiek county.

On June 20, 1894 he was united in marriage with Clara Harvey of Castalia. To this union four daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three daughters. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Howerton and one grandson, Ellwood Howerton of Augberry, California; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Lawrence of San Diego, California; two brothers, Will Dean of Friend, Nebraska, and Roy Dean of Castalia.
