FUNERAL SERVICES HELD APRIL 5 FOR ALEXANDER DAHLEN, RETIRED FARMER

Funeral services for Alexander Henry Jul Dahlen, 84, of Decorah, were held Friday, April 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Glenwood Lutheran Church.

Mr. Dahlen, a retired area farmer, died April 1 at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

Rev. Donald Berg conducted the services. Burial was at the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery, with Sensor-French Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were Allan Dahlen, Howard Dahlen, Arnold Dahlen, Jr., Roger Dahlen, V. Wayne Ruen, Dalen Wanless, Larry Downing and Ron Downing.

Alexander Dahlen was born July 22, 1900 in Winneshiek County, a son of Andrew and Dora (Rosvold) Dahlen. He attended rural schools of Winneshiek County and married the former Henrietta Christine Bakken on Oct. 3, 1923 at Ossian.

Mr. Dahlen had farmed in Glenwood Township until he retired to Decorah in 1977. He was a member of the Glenwood Lutheran Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees and was an active member of the congregation.

He is survived by his wife Henrietta, four children, Phyllis (Mrs. Bernard) Wanless of Mabel, Minn., Lila (Mrs. Vernon) Ruen of Decorah, Arnold Dahlen of Decorah, and Hazel (Mrs. Dean) Downing of Postville; 15 grandchildren; 22 grandchildren; and one sister, Marlys (Mrs. Ambrose) Link of Waukon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Helen Anita Dahlen.
