Bernice Henningsgaard of Mabel dies

Mabel -- Bernice Henningsgaard, 86, of Mabel died Friday (May 7, 1993) at Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.

Bernice Allen was born Oct. 2, 1906, in Winneshiek County, Iowa. She married Arnold Henningsgaard on Oct. 26, 1929. They farmed in Winneshiek County. He died in June, 1952. She then worked for a Mabel drug store until her retirement.

Mrs. Henningsgaard was a member of Mabel First Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a son, Howard of Mabel; three grand children; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Irvin of Mabel, Lester of Decorah, Iowa, and Vernon of Spring Grove; and two sisters, Doris (Mrs. Melvin) Newgard of Mabel and Esther Henningsgaard of Emmet, Calif.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Mabel First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Lloyd Menke officiating. Burial will be in Hesper (Iowa) Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call at Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday or at the church an hour before the service.
