LeRoy A. Dean Rites At Castalia
Services were conducted from the Castalia United Methodist Church Monday, September 15, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Curtis H. Webster officiating for LeRoy A. Dean who passed away at the Postville Hospital, September 11, at the age of 94. Burial was in the Centennial Cemetery.
LeRoy A. Dean was born at Ossian, Iowa, April 23, 1875. Mr. Dean received his education in the public schools of Winneshiek county and grew to manhood in this community.
On October 1, 1896 he was united in marriage to Edith Burrows of Ossian. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Schopp of Castalia.
Mr. Dean was a carpenter by profession and pursued this trade in various parts of the country including Canada, Washington, Oregon, California and other western states. In later years he retired and moved to his home in Castalia, where he lived with his daughter Dorothy until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, and sister. One daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Schopp survives. Mr. Dean was an ambitious man, interested in various activities. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the I. O. O. F. Lodge.
