Gladys Welch, 74, Prosper, died Oct. 18, at St. Francis hospital in La Crosse.

The former Gladys Newgard, she was born April 14, 1914, near Mabel, the daughter of Nels and Margaret (Pederson) Newgard. She attended the Mabel school.

On Nov. 21, 1944, she married William Welch at Decorah, IA. They lived at Hesper until his death. In 1973 she moved to Prosper.

Survivors are a son, Gilman of Prosper; four brothers, Oberlin of Spring Grove, Melvin of Mabel, Tilman of Augusta, WI and Palmer of Prosper, and one sister, Lillian Stedman of Rockford, IL.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Garness-Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jay Kamrath officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

The Mengis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
