From the Mabel Record of July 23, 1920

The editor is this week called upon to chronicle the sad news of the death of his eldest sister Rose N. Antrim, who having submitted to a surgical operation at the Lutheran Hospital of La Crosse on Saturday last, passed quietly to rest yesterday about 3 o'clock. Her condition was not known to be real serious until shortly before the end came and of her family only sister Matie was present at her bed side. Nothing that we could say would add to the memory in which she will be held by all her acquaintances. She was unusually gifted with that wonderful power of seeing the silvery linings and always inspired those about her to look upon the bright side. She was called just when life seemed fullest of promises to her and when her presence here meant so much to others; but by her own manner of living we are prompted to obediently submit to the will of Him who first created and guides always.

Definite arrangements cannot yet be announced as to the time of burial.

Rose Nell Antrim was born August 17, 1878, in Hesper township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, and died July 22, 1920 aged 41 years 11 months and 5 days.

Her education was obtained in the schools at Hesper and Mabel specializing in elocutionary training at La Crosse, With Miss Amanda Kidder.

Her early religious training was received at Hesper and in later life she united with Christ's Episcopal Church of La Crosse, being accepted as a member in the year of 1908. She was a devout believer in her accepted faith and on Friday morning July 16 she last attended early services at which time her pastor, Father Johnson administered the Sacrament.

She is survived by her mother and father, one brother, Ernest R. and one sister, Matie E. all of Mabel, Minnesota.

Funeral services were conducted at the home on Sunday, July 25, by the Undertaker, Geo. A. Fingerson, the Rev. C.L. Hocking officiating and at Friends Church at Hesper where a brief sermon was given by the resident pastor, Rev. Sam, after which the remains were placed at rest in the Hesper cemetery.

The services were attended by an unusually large number of friends and relatives of the departed. Among those from a distance were Mrs. F.F. Babcock of Elliot, N.D. and Mrs. G. O. Quam of Lisbon, N.D. and Chas. McClure of Cheyenne, Wyo.
