Caledonia, Minn. (Special) -- Oscar J. Olson, 80, Caledonia, former employee at the Gengler Coal storage plant, Caledonia, died Sunday morning at his home after a long illness.
He was born May 19, 1894, in Mabel, the son of Andrew and Synnev (Johnson) Olson. He married Evelyn Welch March 7, 1923, at Preston and farmed at Mabel until moving to Caledonia in 1945.
Survivors are: his wife; three sons, David, Caledonia, Reginald, Mankato, and Charles, High Point, N.C.; four daughters, Mrs. Newton (Juanita) Michelsen, Caledonia, Mrs. Loren (Maxine) Tingesdahl, Mabel, Mrs. Robert (Cherryl) Farnsworth, Reno, Nev., and Mrs. Glenn (Lolita) St. Mary, Grinnell, Iowa; 30 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernest, Fairbanks, Alaska, and one sister, Mrs. Alvin (Olga) Gamrude, Caledonia.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia, the Rev. K. Roger Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia.
Friends may call at the Potter-Haugen Funeral Home, Caledonia, Tuesday afternoon and evening and at the church on hour prior to Services Wednesday.
