Here is the obituary for Jean Elizabeth Selness, August, 1971: Miss Selness is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Selness of Elkhart, Ind. She is a graduate of Concordia college, Moorhead, MN., and was to teach elementary strings in the Elementary schools in Winona this fall. She was born Nov. 1, 1949, at Madison, Wis., the daughter of Norman and Joyce (Jacobsen) Selness. Her father is a native of Mabel, and Hesper areas.

Survivors are her parents; five sisters, Carolyn, Rochester, MN., Marie, Ruth, Delores and Pamela, all of Elkhart, and one brother Carl of Elkhart. Memorial services were conducted Sunday at the Hesper Lutheran church. The Rev. Elder Bentley of St. Pauls officiated. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Owatonna for both Miss Selness and Mrs. Sanders. Rev. Manning Von Nostrand and Rev. Arthur Baageson officiated. Burial was in Owatonna.
