The obituary for Judene Lloyd Aasum, as recorded in the Dec. 14, 1995, Republican Leader, Preston, Lanesboro- News- Record, Harmony and Mabel.
Judene Lloyd Aasum, 90, of Mabel, died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 11, 1995, at Tweeten Lutheran Health Care Center in Spring Grove. He was born in Fillmore County on March 3, 1905, to Ove and Mary (Benson) Aasum. He was the sixth of eight children. He attended the Mabel Public School. On Jan. 31, 1929, he married Mildred Anderson at Hesper. He farmed in Winneshiek County and in Fillmore County before retiring and moving to Mabel. She died on Aug. 31, 1966. After retiring he enjoyed working with
wood and building furniture. He was a lifelong member of the Hesper Lutheran Church where he was baptized, confirmed and married.He is survived by four daughters, Mavis (Mrs. Ronald) Kolman, Elaine (Mrs. Harold) Sand both of Mabel, La Vonne Benson of Rochester and Priscilla (Mr. Gerald) Redwing, of Hastings, Minn.; two sons, Llewellyn of Mabel and David of Rochester, 19 grand children, 30 great grandchildren. Two sisters, Minnie Myra and Stella Lommen both of Spring Grove, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and one sister.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m., Friday, at the Hesper Lutheran Church, the Rev. Jim Cherry officiating. Burial will be in the Hesper Lutheran Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Mengis Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is in charge of arrangements.
