Funeral services were held Monday, February 5, at 11a.m. at Garness-Trinity Lutheran Church for Guy Nelson, 88, who died Thursday, February 1, at his home in Mabel.

He was born August 20, 1901 in Highland Township, Winneshiek County, IA the son of Nels and Flora (Darrington) Nelson.

He attended the Grindeland rural school in Highland Township.

On December 3, 1924, he married Stella Baarsgard at Riceford. They farmed in the Mabel and Canton areas until retiring and moving to Mabel in 1979.

He was a member of the Garness-Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors are his wife; two sons, Sylvan of Canton, Michael of Lanesboro; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Glorianne) Know of Mabel; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, one brother, Norvel of Mabel; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Halse of Burr Oak, and Mrs. Andrew (Nina) Folkedahl of Hesper.

He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and four sisters.

The Mengis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
