A one-car accident at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, October 6 on County Road A16 at the edge of Dorchester, IA claimed the lives of Troy Folkedahl, 21, Decorah, and Randy Leistikow, 31 of Hesper.

According to the Allamakee County Sheriff's Department, the driver, which has not been determined, the vehicle left the roadway as it was traveling west and rolled over several times and came to rest on its wheels in Waterloo Creek.

Both victims were ejected from the vehicle. Cause of deaths are still pending investigation of the medical examiner.

Assisting the Sheriff's Department at the scene of the accident was an Iowa State Patrol Trooper from Oelwein, IA.

Troy Folkedahl was born January 31, 1969 at Spring Grove, the son of Forrest and Andrea (Sollien) Folkedahl. He was a 1987 graduate of Mabel-Canton High School. He was employed at Deco Products in Decorah. He was a member of the Hesper Lutheran Church.

Survivors are his parents of Hesper; one sister, Brenda Hongerholt of Lanesboro; paternal grandparents, Andrew and Nina Folkedahl of Hesper; maternal grandparents, Andrew and Inez Sollien of Mabel and a niece Kayla Hongerholt of Lanesboro.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 9, at 11 a.m. at the Hesper Lutheran Church. The Rev. Donald Peterson officiated. Burial was in the Hesper Public Cemetery.

The Mengis Funeral Home of Mabel was in charge of arrangements.
