Linda D. Darrington, 46, of Hesper, Iowa died Saturday, August 3, 2002 at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel following a courageous six month battle with cancer.

Linda was born July 19, 1956 in Iowa City, Iowa to Vernon and Phyllis (Armstrong) Rude. She attended school in Decorah, Iowa. On July 30, 1982 she married David Darrington at their cabin near Highlandville, Iowa. They resided in Hesper their married lives except for five years when they traveled around the country working mainly in Pine Mountain, Georgia as a horticulturist. She previously worked at Northern Engraving in Spring Grove, Minnesota and had recently worked for three years as a nurse's aid at the Green lea Manor Nursing Home until February. She entered Green Lea Manor last week and before her death, she renewed her wedding vows with David. She enjoyed nature, flower, and watching sunsets.

Linda is survived by her husband; two daughters Tina (Jeremy) Baird of Sigourney, Iowa and Crystal Ann (Timothy) Booker of Valley, Alabama; a son Dan (Heather) of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; two brothers David and Mike rude both of Cedar Rapids; and a sister Nancy Wead of Harmony, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son William.
