Reuben Monroe

Reuben Monroe, 90, of Waukon died Thursday, May 13, 1999 at his home.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 17 at First Baptist Church in Waukon with Pastor Richard Johnson officiating. Burial was in Frankville Cemetery with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

He was born Sept. 5, 1908 in Frankville to Henry and Sophie (French) Monroe. Reuben's family lived in Wisconsin when he was a child.

July 10, 1934 he married June Allen in Frankville. He was a farmer and had lived in Castalia and Waukon. Reuben was a member of the Castalia Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Janette Ryder-Blong, Delores Beisker, Allen Monroe and Jerry Monroe; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter LaVerna Peck; and sisters and brothers, Margie Hylard, Lyman and Grover Monroe and Eva Reuber.

Casket bearers were Kelly Peck, Brian and Tony Monroe, Kendal and Lonnie Beisker, Bill and Tom Ryder.

Honorary bearers were Kitty Collins, Julie and Summer Monroe, Amy Grant, Melonee Lamb, Brenda Seitz, Rochelle Fabert, Sherry Kunert, Barb Winters, Patty Scholtes, Cathy Dahlstrom, Joan Lyons, Charlene Baxter, Mary Engrav, Peggy Reiser and Donna Kelly.
