Byron Frank Darrington, died on October 21, 1974, at Tweeten Memorial Hospital, Spring Grove, Minn. He was born on April, 24, 1896, on the old Darrington farm North of Locust, Iowa, the son of Frank and Emma (Bryant) Darrington.

He attended the Hesper Public School and Valders Business School in Decorah and spent most of his life in the Hesper area. He was Winneshiek County Weed Commissioner for 17 years and Hesper Township assessor for many years. He was a member of the Hesper Friends Church since his youth.

He was united in marriage with Millie Orum, from Ridgeway, Ia., on Sept. 20, 1923, at Grinnel, Ia., by the late Rev. O.l. Hutchins.

Survivors include his wife, four sons, Frank of La Puene, Calif., Bruce of Kissimmee, Florida, Wayne of Hesper, Ia., Mark of Santa Barbara, Calif.; one daughter Mrs. Dale (Shirley Lou) Floyd of rural Hesper; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandson and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Rolfshus of Mabel.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hesper Friends Church with the Rev. John Sinton, North Ireland, Guilford and Claire Street officiating. Burial was in the Hesper Friends cemetery.

Mengis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
