The obituary for Lauris Flatten.

Lauris Flatten, aged 47 years, who moved with his family from Mabel to Austin about two years ago, met a tragic death there last week. According to reports, Flatten's body was found in the Cedar river at Austin last Friday morning. He had been missing from his home since the previous Monday night. No further particulars have been available here.

Mr. Flatten and his family lived on the Melby farm west of Mabel before moving to Austin and since residing there he had been employed in the Hormel meat packing plant.

The unfortunate husband and father is survived by his wife, formerly, Miss Hazel Nelson of Hesper, Ia., and his children, Seaman Donald, of Treasure Island, Calif., and Arlyss of San Francisco, Calif. Mr. Flatten also leaves to mourn his passing a number of brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Friends church of Hesper, Ia., last Monday afternoon with Rev. Thomas Bro--, officiating. From the Welch collection.
