Frances Olson's obituary, from the Mabel Record, December 3, 1937.

"There is no flock, however watched and tended, But one dead lamb is there;

There is no fireside, howsoever defended, But has one vacant chair."

Frances Jean Olson was born at Mabel, Minn. on the 16th day of October, 1924. She was the oldest child of Oscar and Evelyn Olson.

Indications of impaired health became apparent in her early childhood, yet she was able to begin her school work and continued until the end of the fifth grade, when her physical condition made further school activities impossible.

The dry climate of North Dakota, where she spent nearly one year with the Droner family at Finely, seemed to have have given her some relief and improvement.

Aggravated by a physical complication her condition became increasingly serious until death, which came Thanksgiving Day, 1937, gave her final relief.

She is deeply mourned by her parents and grandparents and her four sisters and two brothers.

Private instruction in preparation for confirmation was given her, and her confirmation was held privately on the morning of the regular class confirmation at church, June 27, 1937.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon, Novermber28, at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Welch, followed by regular church rites at the First Lutheran church.

Interments and committal services were held at the cemetery near the Trinity Lutheran church.

"Let us be patient, these severe afflictions, Not from the ground arise,
But oftentimes celestial benedictions, Assume this dark disguise."
