The Obituary for Willard (Bill) Welch, 1976, from the Welch collection.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mabel First Lutheran church for Willard (Bill) Welch, 62, who died Sunday evening in La Crosse where he had been taken the day previous. The Rev. Larry Koehn officiated. Burial was in the
Hesper Public cemetery.

He was born Aug. 21, 1913, in Hesper Township, Winneshiek County, IA., the son of Willie and Inga (Anderson) Welch. He attended the Hesper public school. For many years he was engaged in trucking and livestock buying at Mabel. At the time of his death he was a school-bus driver for the Mabel-Canton school. He was a member of Mabel First Lutheran church and a past member of the Mabel Business Association.

On July 1, 1950, he married Harriet Hesselgrave at Dakota, Minn.

Survivors are his wife; one son, William, Rochester; six daughters, Mrs. Robert (Leann) Jevne, Decorah, Ia.; Mrs. Terry (Becky) Russell, La Crosse, Wis., Mrs. James (Darlene) Cotton, Melrose, Wis., Jann, Jackie and Marci, at home; 11 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Harold (Idella) Molstad, Canton, S.D. His parents and an infant brother preceded him in death
