Ernest R. Antrim's obituary, 1965, from the Welch collection

Ernest Ray Antrim was born on a farm in Hesper township, Winneshiek county, Ia., June 9th 1881, the son of L.J. and Kate (Welch) Antrim. He attended the Hesper public school.

In the 1889, he came to Mabel where he began his apprenticeship under Reuben Monson on the Mabel Tribune staff. Following the sale of the Tribune to George Drowley, he worked for the Mabel Sentinel.

On April 21, 1915, he was joined in marriage to Gladys Manning of Mabel, with whom he was to share more than 50 years of useful endeavor.

Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. David (Katherine) Erickson, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one son Ray, St. Paul; three grandchildren and one sister, Miss Matie Antrim of Mabel.

His parents, and one sister, Rose, preceded him i death.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Mabel Methodist church. Burial was in the Hesper Public Cemetery.
