Norman Welch's obituary, from the Welch collection.
Word was received here of the death of Norman Welch, 48, which occurred Monday at 7 A.M. at Veteran hospital in Minneapolis following an extended illness.
He was born October 16, 1922 on a farm near Mabel, the son of Frank and Belva (Golberg) Welch. He was a graduate of Mabel High school in 1940 and a Veteran of WWII.
On November 9, 1943, he married Margaret Rollie of Hesper. Prior to his illness, he was employed at the Holiday Inn and also with a trucking firm in Minneapolis.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Wade, Russell, Adrey, one daughter Mrs. Gregory (Michelle) Erikson, Canton, Minn.; two grandchildren, and his mother, Mrs. Belva Welch of Mabel
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Leon.
Services were held at the Hesper Friends Church, Oct. 7, 1971, at 2 P.M., by the Rev. Guilford Street. Pallbearers were David Sanders, Jerome Sanders, Dennis Rollie, John Rollie, Neil Rollie and Robert Bacon. Interment was at the Hesper Public cemetery, the Mengis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
