Obituary for John Darrington, December, 1957: Welch collection

John Darrington, 96, former Mabel resident, died Sunday at Minneapolis. He was born January, 26, 1861, in Highland township, Winneshiek county, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Fannie Darrington. He was married to Mary Welch February, 21, 1883, and they farmed in the Mabel area until 1924 when they moved to Minneapolis. She died March 19, 1935. Surviving are; two sons, David, Parshall, ND, and Roy, Minneapolis; one daughter , Miss Cecil Darrington; one brother, Frank, Mabel; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Hesper Friends church, Miss Naomi Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Hesper cemetery. Friends may call at Mengis Funeral Home, Mabel, MN, until time of services Tuesday.
