Mrs. John Darrington, nee Mary A. Welch, who passed away at her home in Minneapolis on March 19th, was a daughter of David and Margaret Welch and was born in 1861 near Janesville, Wis. When only 3 weeks old, she moved to Minnesota, one mile north of Hesper, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood.

On February 21st, 1883, she was married to John Darrington and they went to South Dakota where they homesteaded for two years. They then returned to Winneshiek county, Iowa, residing on a farm four miles from Hesper for 29 years, moving into Decorah, Ia., in 1915. The resided there for 9 years, moving then to Minneapolis in 1924 where they have made their home since.

Funeral services were held at the home in Minneapolis on Thursday morning, the remains then brought to Hesper where church services were held at the Friend's church and burial made there.
