The obituary for Wade R. Welch, from the Republican-Leader, Oct. 30, 1997.

Wade R. Welch of Valley City, Calif., died on Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, in Minneapolis.

He was an installation site analyst and senior communications service technician for Lucent Technologies, where he had worked since 1965. He was working in Minneapolis temporarily when he suffered a heart attack.

Mr. Welch was born Aug. 29, 1945, in Spring Grove. He attended school in Mabel. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served there for four and on half years. He attended San Diego city College after getting out of the Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nancy; a daughter, Laura, and husband Rick Watkins; two grandchildren; four adopted grandchildren; his mother, Margaret McKenna of Florida; a sister, Michelle Sebranek of Wisconsin; two brothers, Russel of Northfield and Adrey of Minneapolis. His father Norman R. Welch, preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held in Valley City, Calif., on Oct. 11, 1997.
