Here is the Obituary for Emma Welch: 23 December 1976, Mrs. Myron Welch, 76, died suddenly at her home in Mabel Sunday evening. The former Emma Klegseth, she was born Sept. 10, 1900, in Hesper Township, Winneshiek County, IA., the daughter of Esten and Beret (Aasum) Klegseth. She attended rural school in Hesper Township. On February 14, 1923, she married Myron Welch at Decorah, IA. They farmed in the Mabel and Hesper area all this life, before moving to Mabel. She was a member of the Hesper Lutheran Church and its ALCW. Survivors are her husband; one son, Donald, Mabel; one sister, Mrs. Melissa Korsness, Hesper, Ia.; 9 grandchilden; 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, two
grandchilden, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hesper Lutheran Church. The Rev. Bernhardt Polesky will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Mengis Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Wednesday, and at the church one hour before services. The Pallbearers were: Randy Bjergum, Dennis Dahl, Todd Welch, Robert Bjergum, Barry Dahl, and Tony Vick. From the Welch collection.
