Here is David’s Obituary as recorded in the Mabel Sentinel. Welch-- At his home South of Mabel in Newburg township, Fillmore County, Minnesota, Saturday February 4th, 1905, occurred the death of David Welch, aged 76 years, 11 months and 14 days, The deceased was born in County Antrim, Ireland Feb. 21, 1828.
Feb. 8, 1849 he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Robinson. They came to America in 1850 residing for a few years in the eastern states. In 1861 they came west to Wisconsin later to Minnesota where they spent the remainder of their lives, his wife having died March 26, 1899. Five daughters and three sons survive, who with the exception of one, Fannie, who lives in North Dakota, reside in the vicinity of Mabel. The funeral was held from the Hesper M.E. Church, Rev. Seager officiating.

Source: Decorah Republican Feb. 9, 1905 P6 C5David Welch was born in county Antorim, Ireland, February 21, 1828, and died at his home on Section 34, in Newburg township, Minnesota, Feb. 4, 1905. In about 1850 soon after being married to Margaret Robinson he came to the United States and lived in Rock county, Wisconsin, until 1861, when the family came to Fillmore county, Minnesota, and settled on the farm which Mr. Welch occupied until his death. Mr. Welch was one of the progressive farmers who believed that the best was none too good, and his horses, cattle and hogs showed that his theory was also his practice. Mr. and Mrs. Welch were the parents of five daughters and three sons, of whom all are living not far from him, except the youngest daughter Mrs. Frank Babcock, whose home is in North Dakota. The funeral will be at the M. E. church at 2 p. m. to-day, Rev. Wm. Seeger of Mabel officiating.
