The obituary for Lena Darrington Jan. 1965 : from the Welch collection.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at the Hesper Friends church for Mrs. Lena Darrington, 88, who died Sunday evening at the Walter Barth home.

The Rev. Andrew Stuart officiated. Burial was in the Hesper public cemetery.

The former Lena Sagsvold, she was born Jan. 26, 1876. On March 28, 1901 she married Walter Darrington. They engaged in farming in the Hesper and Mabel area. He died Oct. 7, 1934.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Wilma) Barth, Mabel; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Clifford, and one sister.

The Steine Funeral Home of Decorah was in charge of arrangements.
