Here is the obituary for Flora Darrington, as taken from the Welch collection.

Flora Darrington: Funeral services were conducted at the Friends church in Hesper on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, for Mrs. Flora Hackett, 78, who passed away at the Spring Grove hospital on April 13, 1949. Miss Naomi Olsen officiated. Internment was made in the Hesper cemetery. Pallbearers were: Frank Welch, Willie Welch, Willard, Fred, Clifford and William Darrington.

The former Flora Darrington, she was born in Highland township, Winneshiek county, Iowa, on November 25, 1870, the daughter of Joseph and Fanny Darrington. On March 28, 1893, she was united in marriage to Nels Nelson. To this union 11 children were born. Mr. Nelson preceded her in death on February 3, 1916. December 6, 1922, she married Charles Hackett, who died September 11, 1935.

The departed lived most all of her life on a farm three and a half miles east of Hesper, in Highland township. About a year and a half ago she and her son Norvel moved to Newhouse. In the fall of 1947 she sustained a fractured hip, and since that time had been in failing health.

She is survived by four daughters; Mrs. Knute (Nora) Sanden, Hesper; Mrs. Lauris (Hazel) Flatten, Austin; Mrs. Raymond (Ruby) Halse, Burr Oak; Mrs. Andrew (Nina) Folkedahl, Mabel; three sons, Guy Nelson, Canton; Norvel Nelson, Newhouse, and Nels Nelson, Mabel. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two brothers, Jack Darrington, Minneapolis and Frank Darrington, Mabel. She was preceded in death by four children, five brothers and three sisters.
