Here is the Obituary for Bert Dahl 28 September, 1962

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hesper Lutheran church for Bert Dahl, 74, who died in his sleep at his home south of Hesper on Friday, Sept. 28.

The Rev. Allen Hermeier officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Dahl was born Feb. 8, 1888, in Leksviken, Norway the son of Simon and Jonetta Tommerdahl. In 1911 he came to the United States where he worked until 1914 when he returned to Norway.

On April 6, 1915, he married Caroline Stenkjar at Trondheim, Norway. Following their marriage they came to the United States, settling in Hesper township. Since 1917 he had resided on the farm he owned at the time of his death.

Survivors are five sons, Melvin and Sverre of Mabel, Berner of Harmony, Arnold, Waterloo, Ia., Maurice, Decorah, Ia.; one daughter Mrs. Harold (Helen) Selness, Spring Grove; 31 grand children; 2 great grand children two brother Amund, Duluth, Minn. Johan Arnt Tommerdahl in Norway.

His wife and an infant child preceded him in death.
