Residents of Ossian were saddened on Sunday to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Herman Gipp, who passed away at the noon hour, following a heart attack. Her death follows that of her husband by only three weeks. Mrs. Gipp, who was 84 years old, had been in ill health for seven years.
Funeral services were conducted this (Wednesday) afternoon by the Rev. Walter Pfeffer in Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia. Burial was in Bloomfield cemetery with the following men serving as pallbearers-Leo Birdsell, Milton Birdsell, Walter Daniels, Vernon Lee, Harold Sersland, and Lloyd Sersland.
Members of the flower committee included Linda Gipp, Sharon Gipp, Lois Gipp, Mrs. Marvin Mundt of Ames, and Mrs. Luther Monson of Navarino, Wis.
As Miss Johanna Marie Hoth she was born in Germany on Jan. 14, 1875. On June 26, 1902, she was married to Herman A. Gipp and to their union six children were born, all of whom survive. They are Ida of Ossian, Carl, Elmer, and Alvin of Decorah, Edna (Mrs. Glen Mundt) of Ossian and Hazel of Cedar Rapids.
She is also survived by one half-brother, John Schutta of Frankville, 16 grandchildren and three great
